stuck piston rings

Any trick to getting them unstuck? Piston has three, one is just fine. The middle one and the oil ring are stuck in the grooves. Can't get anything between the ends. Any ideas or tricks?

I would do the following (assuming I needed the piston and were replacing the rings). Use PB Blaster or? to lube things up ATF is OK as well. The oil ring should have holes in it, use a small screw driver, and with the piston held in a V block made from soft wood, I would tap the ring apart at the closed gap by putting the blade is a hole, and tapping tangentially to open the gap, then keep going till it breaks. follow the broken parts around punching them out of the groove.
On the solid ring, I would lay the screw driver tip on edge at one side of the gap and tap the up side of the blade to transfer a blow to the ring. driving it into the carbon buildup. keep at it all around to let the modest impact jar the ring loose. if it breaks fantastic. Jim

If you can hang it above a pot of boiling water I would steam it for an hour. Steam melts carbon. Might work might not.

Piston Kleen
I found it on Amazon and got it sent to the house.
Pistons in can, set into electric frypan and set to 108 degrees.

I believe it was a 4 hour run time and pistons came out looking like near new.
Non caustic, no odor.

YMMV

Dave H (MI) I'm with uncle Tom,Heat the pistons with a propane torch, piston not the stuck rings as the spring tension of the rings will be destroyed.rings should pop loose,

Combustion chamber cleaner. I use KLeen Flo but mopar brand is also excellent. Usually soaking in that and carefully working at it will free most stuck parts.
