1755 gas Oliver coolant in oil

So Im buying this 1755 from a buddy that said coolant is getting into the oil system. They already did a head gasket job on it. Is it possible for coolant to be getting in from the cooler? Im gonna try to do a few a few tricks to see where its coming from. Just wondering if anyone else has any tricks. Just strange that it leaks still after a head job.

Recheck his torque on the head. Also it is possible that a stud or two is bottomed out and though the nut is torqueing it could be running out of threads and not torqueing down on the head. Just a thought as I had that happen to me once. gobble

the head is not the only thing responsible for coolant in oil. can be sleeve o rings if wet sleeves. if oil cooler was bad u have oil in rad. pull the pan and let it sit with plastic under it overnight. can be the block also. its not tricks its elimination. can be the head cracked, was it magnafluxed? head gasket only is slim.

They have wet sleeves. Dollars to donuts that's where the leak is. Drop the pan, pressurize the system and see if any of them leak.

If it has an oil cooler with it off cap the oil ports and seal the water ports. Now pressurreize the oil side with a air valve in the oil side. Drop in a tub of water big enough to submerge the cooler with air on it it should bubble if not start heating the water in tub till it reaches engine opertating temp and look for bubbles. IF it is leaking you should see some might even need to get to 200 degrees to leak. The wet sleeves is also a possible leak and easier to check than the oil cooler.

oil cooler will always put oil in rad. not the other way around. oil pressure is greater than coolant pressure.

I had coolant in the oil on a Ford Logging truck with a Cummins Big cam 4, 855 cubic inch engine. Had it at a Cummins shop and it turned out to be the oil cooler. They said it seldom works that way, but it can do it.

I agree with dropping the pan while the engine is intact, and you can pressure up the cooling system.

Then you can pinpoint exactly where the leak is coming from without guesswork.

I assume it has wet sleeves. They can leak around the oring seals. The height above the block deck is critical, if any rode up while the head was off they probably got trash under them and for sure broke the oring seal.

A head gasket job is very critical for cleanliness, bolt/stud condition, and torque, including a hot retorque.
