hydraulic quits on 170 Allis

i have a 170 allis gas with loader, hydraulic will work just fine lifting loader and dumping buckets for a while, then quits, if i stop tractor and restart then loader will work again both arms and bucket cylinders, steering works fine. any suggestions

Just a guess...

But usually when everything quits at once it's a pump drive problem.

A stripped spline, sheared key, something letting the pump stop turning under load.

I'd start with filter and oil level. Then when it quits look at the oil to see if it is foaming. That could cause the lack of lift and if not then you will need to look at other possibilities like a collapsed hose inside or pump drive as Steve says. though I would not expect a drive problem working and then not and then working again. That is where I would expect an air problem and the foaming. Or if you have quick couplers in the lines amybe one of those is locking to one side or the other blocking the oil then bleeds off and works till it doesn't.
