His ABS light should have came on too-the wheel speed sensor not getting a steady reading from the wobbly
wheel. Probably ignored just like the vibration this would have caused. Mark.

Yup useless sealed wheel bearings. I've never had them last for very long on anything. Was at the old Atoka truck stop one day and a couple guys hauling horses or some livestock had those sealed bearings go out in the maiden trip. Had to go to Dallas to get new wheel bearings. They said the old oil filled bearings and spindle parts were setting in the shop at home waiting for them to get back. I put oil bearings on the last truck I ordered and have never had a bearing problem in 1,200,000 miles. Still the original bearings. I have changes 2 left wheel bearings out on an 05 escape and both front wheel bearings on a 99 F250 and on a 2000 dodge 3500 2wd. Seems like a lot of wheel bearings compared to a bearing with oil in it.

I have not had that happen on a front hub, but I did have that light illuminate on a rear axle. Does that count?

I've seen more than one spindle wrung right off with the wheel and tire flying skyborn on the interstate. Seems greasing wheels bearings is forgotten part of service.

That is about as bad as it gets. As I remember in the 60's and later years a few times our family GM cars, rear axle sealed bearings would go bad. I haven't had a wheel bearing go bad
for years. Stan
