Dutra. great gripping, pulling tractor let down by Eastern European metalwork. The first ones we saw in the UK were fitted with Perkins 6.354 engines and these sheared off the massive, mild steel half shafts, They did get better and we had one customer who worked one on heavy cultivation work for a few years. I believe a valve in the hydraulic lift failed and no replacement was available, so the tractor was scrapped.

Some came over with the original Cspel engine at around 90 hp, the Perkins was between 120 and 130hp. Dutra made tractors down to around 28 hp.

The Dutra company had its roots in a British company Clayton and Shuttleworth who were making tractors and combine harvesters in the middle 1800's to early 20th century. Production moved to Hungary and became HSCS when the British company failed in 1929 and the Hungarian importer formed a new company to build tractors and farm equipment.
