MIG Welders

Mig welders
I know that the old adage buyer be alert holds
I am looking for a replacement 220 welder to replace the old Marquett 220 that died. Have looked through kijiji, & amazon Canada etc.
Seen some amazing prices for S Sinder Mig & HMB 120 Mig welders all; both used and new at around $200 - $300.00 Canadian. Has anyone bought
and used ASIN made Mig welders? I am not wanting to spend a fortune; for the amount I use the welder. Even so my wife would have very great
dissatisfaction if I spent much more than the above price.
Any thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated; to assist in making a final decision.
Thank you, Wm. from southwestern Ontario Canada near London.

Sometimes china products are ok. I have good success with china vehicle parts, since that is all that is available where I live, unless I go to a dealer, then still not sure. A china welder may be ok for just a few projects. The price you mentioned is probably not for a gas welder, is it? I am considering a portable china generator in the $4-500 range. Keep in mind this will only a emergency generator. Stan

The problem with off brand mig welders is you will need consumables, tips, nozzles, liners, etc.

Typically the seller supplies NO PARTS, and if they do, it will only be until they no longer carry that line, which will be sooner than later!

Better off finding a used name brand. Check Ebay, or local weld supply shops.

I won't be using gases at any time since my shop area is limited and another gas bottle is not advantageous, I also like the flux core though. The only Mig that is close is an offshore make used at 220V., for about $300. Canadian. Guess I will keep looking.

Cheap welders are like oats you get a quality oat for a quality price and then you can get the ones through the horse that come a little cheaper.

I've got a genuine Chineseum plasma cutter off Amazon, think it was about $250. I am pleased with its performance. Cuts way better than I thought it would, but it's also not a heavy duty production machine. Don't know why a Chineseum MIG welder would be any different.

I am loyal to the blue welders The red ones break down less but I have chosen the blue. I would stick to those two brands.

I bought an Everlast MTS275 Mig/Tig/stick combo about 18 months ago. I find it's a great little welder. However, I also agree with Steve's comments re: consumables. Tips and stuff for the gun are impossible to find locally. They are available through everlast, fairly reasonably. But his point is well made. I expect at some point I'll need to swap this out for a parker gun or something I can buy parts for locally... but the welder itself is very impressive... and that's coming from someone whose blood runs true blue. The simple reality is that red doesn't even offer a comparable product. Blue is close but lacking in specs for a LOT more money... and yellow is also great but local support here is about the same as everlast. So I figured for a no support situation (realistically all of them here), you might as well buy the best spec you can find for a fair price. I have no regrets.

thank you to all who have responded. Your insights and knowledge are most valuable. I guess I will need to keep searching for the best deal. Hopefully someone will put a used North American Mig welder on the market at a price I like >> around $2 - 300.00 Canadian.
If I could get across the border at Port Huron maybe I would look to see if anyone in Michigan has something to fit the bill.>>>BUT until the border opens !!!
Thank you again.
