Bought this mess a few weeks back. Got the motor on a stand and pulled head. I'm thinking ain't no magic fluid gonna make it run. Was a running tractor, previous owner took it apart to paint, 20 years ago.....

Motor, minus the manifold was in a covered pole barn, but at some point ended up laying on it's side. Looks like rain blew in.
It's a complete B!

An engine like that is one of two reasons I built my BA. B engine looked a lot like that one and the A engine had broken front and rear engine mounts broken but the engine it self was good to I took the A engine sleeves pistons etc and put in the B block and built the BA out of the 2 junk tractors

are you going to rebuild the motor or find a donor engine? i rebuilt a b many years ago. a kid bought a non runner with a 59 woods underi it. . they tried to pull start it and bent 2 rods. i went thru it, crank cut, new bearings, valve job, pistons and sleeves, and 2 new rods from my ih dealer. iirc the rods were and hundred and some dollars a piece. the sleeves are wet so they should push out easy.

I was surprised when I removed valve cover... Really clean. Same with oil pan. Still full of nothing but black oil.

Sleeves and rings?

Sleeves and rings and pistons and maybe a cam and crank work and ???? If it was mine I think I'd be looking for another engine. That block is UGLY and I've seen UGLY before. I don't doubt your tenacity but that thing looks awful. Good Luck with it, you're going to need it....along with a lot of $$$$.

Tap out sleeves and pistons / rods as they froze. Once out you can heat up sleeve at a distance with torch to expand sleeve enough to break corrosion bond , mystery oil will soak down . Pistons will slide out .

I like tap out with hardwood ,like oak ,to avoid deformation of pistons and sleeves. Brass rod also

You get discusted when you buy a project that turns into this. I bought an H one time. The guy was honest, and said it was stuck. I was figuring it was one cylinder froze, like I have ran into a few times. Had one heck of a time getting the head off. Once off, every cylinder looked like what you have in your pictures (or worse if anything). I ended up parting out the tractor instead of fixing it up as intended. Sometimes parting one out, just makes more sense. Although, sometimes it's difficult to get back to even when you pencil it, when you have to do that.

Bad part is with an H, if you find a good H engine, you might as well just go with the rest of the tractor the engine is coming from, rather than changing out the engine. Not sure how that is with a B. I know you bought it disassembled. That could go either way. It's already disassembled if you you part it out. But putting it back together with a different engine wouldn't be any extra work, since you was going to have put humpty dumpty back together again anyways. Now, that's a toss up, I would think.

I'm guessing your leaning towards re-assembling it.

if the block is good /not cracked/ take a set of rags soaked in deisel fuel stuffed in each cylinder light and let burn slowly . the heat will loosen the grip of the piston to wall and allow disassembly. Light and let burn for nearly 1/2hour. learned for an old fellow. The explanation may still be in the back library some where on this site.

What a mess. Good luck bringing the engine back from the dead.

Some people see no harm in leaving things out in the rain.
Water is public enemy #1.

Push out sleeves and pistons together then you can press pistons out of sleeves. The sleeves that have the pistons up maybe ok. Hone them and check for pits. Two used sleeves and a set of rings new sleeve o rings and a valve grind might put you back in business.
