Rusty good head how to clean?

Looking in shed I discovered a good head . I should have stored in oil bag. Due to old age and brain farts i let it have surace rust. What is best way to clean? thinking vinager. What say youall?

IF you are going to use it take it a machine shop and have them disassemble it and bead blast it and check the valves and clean the guides and have it put together with fresh oil or valve stem lube on the valve stems.
 
If you know the head is good I'd disassemble it and give it a good scrubbing with wire brushes. Using vinegar won't hurt anything. Then you will know what you are up against.

If it still looks good, check the valve guides and lap the valves so they seal.
 
UK you guys how do you knoe from his post if it is indead a over head valve head and if it has anythin likre valves in it or if it is a flat head that never had anything except water jacket holes in it? From his post I thought flat head, not overhead.
