Tractor clock question!

So I have one of the old Pam clocks with an 8 round florescent light. The lamp can be removed from the back and it has a four pin connection. I can find replacement bulbs with four pins, but I don't have one of those little round starter things. Will the new bulb work without the starter?

If it has a place for a starter, it needs one. Several ring lamps I have have a push button to hold to start the lamp, Jim

No, that is determined by the ballast, not the lamp.

If the new lamp will connect to the base, and you can't find a starter, then you could retrofit a rapid start ballast if there is room. It does not need a starter. It would wire like a regular straight lamp of the same wattage.

I have had very good luck finding the small round ballast on the internet.

They all had numbers on them but some wore off with age.
If you locate a number google it at see if any come up.

If no number google the wattage of the lamp asking for what ballast and it will come up that way.

Very few places carry those anymore so the Net is best option.
