Dump Wagon Hydraulics

I just got a wagon running gear with a hydraulic hoist with a single hyd. hose. How can this be hooked up to a newer tractor with a rear remote to work?

As mentioned, either side will work. Only difference is on one side you move the lever forward to raise the wagon, while if you hook to the other side you'll pull the lever back to raise it. Sometimes, lowering the wagon will work better with the engine shut off, but it's not necessary.

Not only might it probably work better, but will eliminate pressure building on the unused coupler while lowering. If the remote valve being used is capable
of, and adjusted for single acting cylinders, then it won't help much.

What is being forgotten id pressure rating of cylinder and of tractor.. Unless it is a newer lift cylinder it is probably a low pressure cylinder while your tractor is a high pressure rated hydrolics and could blow out side of cylinder and drop bed fast with you cought under it. So ask yourself is it proper rated for your tractor before trying to use it. I have had standard implement cylinders that were split lengthwise down side. Got that way but being the model cylinder it would work on a atique machinery static display. I am sure that cylinder was only rated for a John Deere A or B tractor and the owner that had passed away blew the side hooking to the 6000 fords he had. And they would have been low pressure to todays tractors. Just be safe and make sure cylinder can handle your pressure.

What tractor? Most modern tractors have a float position on the hydraulic control. It's usually one "click" past the lowering position.

If it's new enough the tractor needs to be running for the hydraulic controls to work. So shutting it down to prevent deadheading the system over the relief valve may not be an option.

Using the float, ideally you want to plug the hose in so that "raise" corresponds to moving the lever in the opposite direction of the float position, so it's a more natural raise/lower operation.
