Help with identifying my tractor year

Forgive me if this has been discussed. I'm new here as of today. I just bought a "1945" A John deere. My question is, how can I be sure of what year it is. The serial number is 531347 as best I can tell. I've tried to look it up but I just cant see where it says this is 1945. Anyone please confirm . Thanks in advance. Joe

According to at least some serial number charts, the first serial number of 1944 A's build year was 524423. The first serial number of the 1945 A's was 542700. Your serial number of 531347 is after 524423 and before 542700 so it appears you have a 1944 A, not a 1945.

For future reference, here's how you look up a serial number in a serial number chart.

First, each tractor has a unique serial number. Odds are slim that you will see your EXACT serial number on the chart. If you do that means it's the first tractor built that year, which is just a happy coincidence unless it's the very first tractor of that model built, then it's worth slightly more...

Pull up the serial chart. The one below one is from a popular tractor data website. Your number is "531347." Look at the chart and find which two numbers yours is between. In your case it is between 1944's number and 1945's number. That means your tractor was built in 1944, the earlier of the two years.
