My comute to work went from 8 miles to 48 miles so I had to buy a comuter car.I'm very happy with my new Toyota Varis (new EPA rating of 35 MGP - have not had a chance to measure it myself). Well, this is only the second automatic vehicle I have owned. Pulling onto the main road the other day, a neigbor on the corner was backing out onto the main road - I decided my most courteous move was to pull out and go behind him fast to get out of his way. Well .... due to this little bit of distraction combined with the high whine of the engine, my brain on autopilot decided it was time to upshift - I pushed that little shift lever right into PARK before I knew what I was doing. I realized what I did before I applied the gas again, but I had to roll a couple hundred feet before I could pull over and stop. It made a not-so-nice sounding clicking noise the whole time. Everything seems fine (that was three days ago) including the hill-hold in PARK. Am I in the clear or is there something in there I may have damage?
