Daughter #2 has a 2000 Grand Am-and, yes, it is a POJ (piece of junk)! Anyway, POJs rack and pinion started acting up, and without knowing better, we turned the steering wheel too far-trying to make the car turn right, left was no problem. Anyway, airbag light comes on-OOPS. Did some research, and found out you are not supposed to turn, from center, more than 3 rotations-OOPS! Had to replace the rack, but then today we took it to a specialty shop called Steering Column Repairs. I have been there 2 other times and have always been impressed, and today was the same! He has all kinds of used parts, and knows of what he speaks, and of what he does. $135 to replace the 'clock spring', because he had the part. I guess the part, new, is $150.00. Greg

You know.. sometimes you just got to have someone else fix it. Lot easier and at times cheaper in the long run.
