even that gas prices are effecting everybody, will a real fisherman still go how far north to catch the good ones, i work hard i think it should not effect me, im heading for the Duck Mountains in manitoba canada myself in 2 weeks.

Duck Mountain provincal park is north of the Riding Mountain provincal park thats what there called , they are really big hills like mountains

Salmon on Lake Michigan in Sept and Oct is my "deer season". Been doing this for over 20 years. Its a 3 hr round trip drive every Monday morning. Unless gas hits $10.00/gal, I don't expect this to change.

Have fun.....don t. .....

That's like somebody From Quebec, Alberta or BC coming to a ski hill in Ontario.
They don't even get the skies out of the vehicle, they just turn around an go home.

i was on vacation last week near mountain home arkansas on lake norfork. hardly any boats at all on the lake, even the weekends were dead quiet. was real nice having the lake pretty much to ourselves, considering the lake has over 500 miles of shore line. even driving down from south of chicago thru missouri i-55 and interstate 44 thru missouri were real quiet.

I am going the opposite direction. Heading to Mississippi Gulf Coast. Figure it will run 400 bucks for gas 3,000 miles round trip at 30 mpg. Sure hope gas doesn"t get much higher.

Yes. Duck Mountains, Turtle Mountains, Riding Mountains, Porcupine Mountains come to mind right off the bat. It's got 100,000 or so lakes, too. Actually it's pretty hard to name a natural resource it doesn't have. I like the Duck Mountains, but not necessarily as a place to fish (RIVIR must be into trout fishing).

I will fish this year in the local lakes but no big trips other than my yearly muzzleloading trip to ohio during christmas.

I fish 100 miles north of the village of Pickle Lake in Ontario. Pickle Lake is the farthest north you can drive in Ontario on a paved road.
This is a 1200 mile one way trip from here in central Mich. Approx. 900.00 just in driving fuel maybe more.
