Pioneer Hydraulic Couplers

The Oliver 1850 that I bought has these hydraulic coulpers on it. Pioneer 8250. Supposed to couple under pressure. I used it on the corn planter, and had a devil of a time hooking hoses up but finally got them hooked up. When I unhooked, I couldn't get them apart, ended up unscrewing the hyd hose to relieve pressure so I could get them unhooked. I want to use it to put on NH3, and thinking about buying new couplers to replace them just so I can hook and unhook them easier. Is there a trick to these that I don't know about? Just supposed to push the sleeve back and pull hose out or push hose in, right? What gives? Chris

Are those what are considered the new style ISO coupler? Were they clamped in a holder on your tractor?

If yes to the 2 questions above. All you have to do to unhook is give a quick jerk on the hose.

Then to hook up you just push in on the hose. The coupler does the rest.

They will not work correct if they are not held solidly in place for the jerk and so you can just push in.

Hope I explained it so you understand what I am trying to say.

you do have 8010 male ends correct. But even then they will do just as you have mentioned. Deal with it on daily basis assembly redo equip in my shop for dealers. You stil have to take the pressure off to get them to work easy and be installed in the bracket holders. I don't like them either.
On the forklift that I use to set stuff up with I use only 9500 series lever couplers, once you do this you won't go back period. Rotate lever to release pressure to hookup and unhook under pressue they are nice. 9250-4 is model single units. 9250-4L is left hand unit yellow
9250-4R is right hand unit red
these retail like $60.00 to 65.00 each or you can get complete coupling kit like I always do is retail $153.00 range. I can get at dealer cost if you would like but anyway check it out and ask for 9500-4 Coupling kit. Its worth it!!!
i know these work as I have to hook and unhook stuff daily under pressure since alot of stuff out there has no safety locks to let the pressure off with in the raised position. Dultmeier handles them if you can't find anyone to help you, and you will not find them on the shelf usually just because you are going from $25.00 30.00 fitting that suppose to work to a $60-65 dollar fitting that does work. Good luck

When unhooking the couplers, shut the tractor off, and then work the hydraulic lever both ways to relieve the pressure on the lines.

That doesn't work on the Olivers.... Once they're shut off the hydraulics don't respond to the levers.

Oh that explains why I had trouble hooking and unhooking the hydraulic lines on my Uncles 1600. I was doing it like a Deere.

Yep. We've got a 1600 & 1855, & both keep the presure when the engine is shut off. It took all winter fo rthe 3 pt. arms to drop on the 1855 w/ the 4 bottom plow on it. No weight and the arms never drop.
