ebay purchase question

I bought a waste oil heater off an ebay auction.
It's been two weeks now and i still don't have the heater. The guy lives about 90 miles from me.
He sent me his phone number, but hardly ever
answers and never returns my calls like he said he would.Twice when i did get through to him he said he would let me know in a couple days when i could pick the heater up,but he never does.Today i tried his number and got his voicemail again.A couple minutes later i called from my shop phone and he answers. He said he was in a meeting and would call me back in an hour. That was 2pm today,it's now 9.15 pm.I'm afraid if i drive 90 miles he won't be there or have the heater. What do you think?

Sounds like you are really close to getting the shaft!! My experience in this kind of situation isn't good, but fortunately this is a rare experience in the old tractor community.

Have you paid for the heater and how did you pay for it? Send him an email through Ebay and ask for a specific time to come pick up the heater. Next time you call him, specifically ask for a time to pick up the heater.

If things head south, you can go the the Ebay conflict resolution system and may be able to get your money back if you paid through Paypal.

if you used a credit card thru paypal file complaint with them and ebay . if that doesnt work, have your credit card company do a chargeback.if you sent a money order all you can do is contact his mayor, police tell them its internet fraud , or go to small claims court.

Did you already pay for it?

Sounds like an extra busy man, but that DOES NOT warrant not being able to keep in contact with you. I would not go to his residence until you've nailed him on the phone at least once.

My experience with a Lanair wasteoil heater was, it took way too much maintence, everytime I turned around it quit and a Harley Davidson, "Hundred Dollar" repair. When I quit using it about 2 years ago, my electric bill went down $40.00 a month, seems like I didn't save anything, just spent more time pumping oil and saved alot of my friends from having to pay to get rid of their oil.

sounds to me like he doesent think he got enough money for it and is backing out of the deal, was it a cheap price?

Dont worry about it as yopu havent paid for it so you arent out of your money and what is he going to do to you as you sure have tried to make contac. Go find another one.

If you still have the money, do not call him anymore. Wait until he calls you. And hold on to the money, do not send it to him.

In short, if you were the seller would you treat a buyer like he has treated you. The answer is no. Since you haven't lost any money move on. You may leave a negative rating on that seller if you want to protect others from his unscrupulous ways.

Just give him a call, leave a message and say you will be there on X unless it is a problem. Always worked for me or maybe I've always just dealt with good guys.
