O/T Parts Books values

I was asked a question by a good friend. There father was the local Chevie dealer and they have almost a complete set of Chevie parts books from 1929 when they started. They have a man comming over to look at making a purchase. To keep everybody honest is there a site (other than e-Bay ) that could help with prices. Thanks in advance. J.
 
I don't know of any websites, and I wouldn't put too much faith in what you find on ebay anyhow.

Just off the top of my head, I would place a value of $20 to $30 minimum for EACH of those manuals.
 
If these are the standard 8x11 or so, you could try the general booksites, like abebooks and alibris; they have some of this stuff at times.
I'm not familiar with "technical books" sites, but there probably are several that could handle this stuff.
Nor am I familiar with strictly automotive literature sites (usually too expensive for me), except to say that if you want the absolute top price being asked, see if Walt Miller has some (autolit.com?); believe me, if he has any, he'll be thinking a great deal of them!!
While I follow cars very little now, and Chevy not at all, it seems I've seen CD's advertised covering lots of parts books; if so for Chevy, that'd undercut the market some, altho a real enthusist wants the book to lay out on his/her desk or bench. Take care. Bud
 
J, you might try a copy of Hemmings Motor News from the local library. It is chock full of all kinds of parts, pieces and books. I know I have seen dealer manuals for sale in the classifieds and it may give you some idea of value.

I would say Rusty is problably in the ballpark. Its probably really worth the most as a complete set. Some of the older stuff like service manuals from the 60's and 70's really arent worth much of anything, but you have something a collector might really go for. I would tell him to put it on ebay. The guy coming to look at it could bid just like everyone else....
 
There are some Minnie manuals on Ebay right now with a buy it now price of about $199.00 each.
