720 single front wheel

single front wheel was it an offered option?
You have lucked out and found one of the few hand built engineering prototypes that the Deere accounting department accidentally sold.

Buick and deere do you think this tractor might be worth more? he wants 3800 whats your opinion excelent shape.

Front ends were interchangeable and no records by JD on what came on it so no extra value. Single fronts are common as dirt in cotton country where they were used with mounted pickers or strippers. Very very common to see any 2 cylinder row crop wih single front in the south.

buick, I hope you feel bad being so misleading to this gentleman. The single front wheel assembly, was an option on all row crop two cylinder tractors, Is it rare? Not really, No records were kept as to what tractors had what front end assemblies after 1952. Single front wheel assemblies sell for $200-$450. Its not a prototype, its not a hand built experimental. Its a 720 single front diesel. $3800 seems about the right price range for it granted the pony start runs good and nice sheetmetal. Dont take a word buickdeere says seriously. Not sure where he gets his info.

Come on, buickanddeere was just kidding... and he knows his stuff, read all of his posts, he is good.

Harlan, how do you say that a 720 diesel is not rare when you have a fuel valve and headlights on ebay (in which Deere made 100,000s of those) and you have right on the auction subtitle that they are rare???

I was only looking for the Truth so if you think its funny to mislead me stick it- or dont reply to my posts !!!!!! Plow Hand

Maybe some people get tired of repeating the same info every two weeks. FYI in the future, you can search the archives for information too. There is a lot of great information from years of people posting.

Back to the main point, you never mentioned if it had a three point. 720s are great tractors. If it has a three point, it should be worth $3800. If you ever get tired of the single front wheel, you can bolt a rollamatic under it for about $200 plus $150 for the correct rims. Good Luck, let us know if you get it..

I think most of us were brought up not to lie it was a simple question and if anyone was sick of looking at it move on you dont have to be a total knuckle head liar.I dont and I dont think anyone else likes to be made fun of a real MAN would apoligize.

Any pictures? There are some subtle items as options or are broken/missing. That can vary a very similar looking tractor from salvage value to semi rare.
If there are flywheel/crank spline problems count on $1000.00 More if some tinkerer welded the flywheel to the crank.
A running diesel engine alone can cost $5000.00 if going through it and fixing everything up to spec.

got a 720 LP with a single front...pretty common down here in cotton country ...also have 3 or 4 rolling trouble front ends but I think you would be better off with a solid narrow front...my 730D has the narrow solid front...brother has wide front on his 630 & 730 & they won't turn as short as the single front...Kent

Ryan, While its true that the original number of these parts made is quite high, obviously not that many exist anymore, some that do exist are on tractors that wont be parted out, restored, etc, If you disagree with my auction listings why do you keep bidding on them? I guess everyone had a differant meaning of the word "rare". I sometimes use the word rare as a search type word as well, if someone is on eBay and types in "John Deere Rare" for a search, I want my items to show up. Im not misleading, saying that is a hand built prototype experimental waterloo boy hi crop lp crawler rice special. I just think if you are going to post on here, just answer the persons question and not be a donkey about it. Just my 2c

Another Thing Ryan, This gentleman did a simple post asking about a tractor, maybe he does not check the forum to see similar questions that were asked two weeks ago, if you are sick of seeing similar questions, like he said, go on to the next message, didnt know it was such a crime to ask a question on here lately. Who cares if the question was asked 2 hours ago bu someone else. This forum is for people to ask for info with what they need. As far as im concerned the dumb questions are the ones that are not asked.

Where did I say """I""" was tired of the same question being posted??????????????? Can't you read???? I said maybe some people are, hence buickanddeere. I never said anything but answered the guy's question and clarified buickanddeere's answer. Thats all, what's wrong with that Harlan????

Was an option that here in corn belt did not sell, most were roll-a-matic front that was trouble free and then the adjustable wide front, standard dual front did not sell either. Colector tractor the single would be highest price but for use single or standard dual front would not sell.

A single front wheel is a rough riding brute. The front of the tractor rises and falls sharply at every bump. The rising/falling at the front alternately pushes the steering wheel into the driver then yanks it away.
While the rollo-matic is better. A standard front axle or a wide rowcrop rides the best.
