jimmy dean the singer and actor grew up in my home town,but was older and Inever knew him,but knew his mother and his brother.Saw him a time or two when he came home and started his sausage business with his brother and cousin at Plainview Texas.He had a very hard life growing up,but sure has done well in later life.Well i read in the newspaper that he gave a million dollars to the local Wayland College and a local church was given a very expensive organ.It,s good to know when those who have done well give back to the comunity.Have you heard of celebrities giving to their hometown like this
 
Jimmy Dean has good sausage too. I like the hot which is just right for me. It is always heartwarming to see people that have done well give back to their community. Jimmy Dean seems to be a class act.
 
Clint Boyer has started a golf tournament and established a foundation to support the community of Emporia Ks. One of the things he did was pay for a 2 week free pass to the swimming pool for anyone wanting to use it, and there has been more. Sure is nice when that type of person remembers their hometown.
 
Charles Shultz paid millions to either build or renovate a hockey arena. He played oldtimers hockey into his 70's I think. The Rollings Stones paid something like 10 million to fix up a catherdral but I can't remember what country /city it was in, not the US. Dave
 
Was a fan of Charles M. Shulz, wikpedia link below, though one should be a bit skeptical about the accuracy of information, seems like this one is accurate. Really enjoyed those newspaper comic strips and I still have a stack of the old paperback peanuts books, really enjoyed those as a kid. Charles M. Shulz was an admirable person.

Paul Newman seems to have done quite a bit with his charitable business, hard to really know the facts except what you see on the outside, but one can certainly appreciate anyone who takes the time to give something back, no matter how large or small.

Stephen King.Gives all the time.One instance he had a full blown sports complex built for kids in Bangor Maine,Regulation ball diamond and all.Colledges wanted to use it cause it was way better than theirs but King stepped in with his lawyer and told the city who was boss and that ended that.Local city kids I said! and that was it. Hoss
 
Reba McEntire used to do alot for one of the hospitals around here. Used to put on a concert and alot of other things.
