Shorting banned in financial stocks. OT

Maybe they should ban it in all stocks and treat them like tangible assets where you either buy them or sell them and not bet on them to lose value.
 
I don"t understand how that is fair. I thought that was the whole idea of the stock market,to make money however you could. If they don"t allow selling short then how do you do it, just put your money in and watch it? Where do you draw the line,when stocks start to plummet can nobody sell?Sounds like another scam to me!
 
It"s free market capitalism for the little people--you pays yer $$$ and takes yer chances...and socialism (of losses) for the wealthy.
Profits are private, losses are public; simple. And you can join in, when you"re rich enough.
 
The problem is not selling short but mallipanating the market to make money by causing the stock to fall.
