stainless cars

Havent heard of these in a good while, but was looking at magazine and found an article about the 1936 ford cars built with stainless steel bodies. Stainless was furnished by Allegeny Ludlum.com/pages/companyinfo/stainlesscars.asp.Also later built some thunderbirds and lincolns .Also check hemmings.com Great looking old fords.Let me know if you can find the photos.

29 Lincoln was made from Aluminum, I know where you an get one for free with only 29 miles on it. Its parked right off old highway 40 north of Sacto.
Better learn to scuba dive though.

Yep, Ford built six 1936's I recall and there's only two accounted for acording to Peterson Publications...wouldn't it be something to find one in an old barn covered in hay...

just saw an article on all the stainless cars, built by AL with the pictures, in Reminisce Magazine about a year ago.

The 36 Coupe was not there But I know for a fact that they know where 4 of them still exist and one is now locally in the area where it was built.

Cot $1000,000 to buy it back and needs re- upholstered.

I had the privilege to set in it.

My father in law sent me four photos of one of these cars a few months back. Here is one.

That"s one you can still buy a new one someone has the factory and will put one together if you have the money all new parts

There are some in a college museum in Clevland.A 1958-59 Thunderbird and I forget maybe two more. They actually junked some of these and some are on display at the steel company according to the museum. They were very hard on the stamping dies and Ford only allowed them to be stamped at the end of production runs.I beleive it was three times they tried it several years apart.I bet the guy that scrapped them is kicking himself.
