anybody now where the low injection oil pressure sensor is located on the t444e 7.3l turbo diesel motor is? having trouble with our flatbed wrecker, cranks over and fires but immediately dies. truck is plugged in, filters are clean. dealer said prolly the sensor, picked up a new one, cant see where the dang thing goes. dang cold working on that thing outside!!!

Replacing sensors without the aid of a scan tool or proper diagnostic equipment can be quite costly.............

BTW, a failed camshaft position sensor can cause the same symtpoms as well..........to confirm failure, wait until engine has died and will not re-start........ Monitor tachometer while cranking, if needle does not register RPM the CPS has likely failed............

i am waiting for the 6/9 pin deutsch adapter cable from snap on for my modis scanner, but it hasnt come in yet and the truck went down yesterday. hopefully it will be here soon so i can scan it. i will check the tach right now. thanks

tried it, both the tach and the speedo sweep up together when cranking. fires for just a second or 2 then immediately shuts down.

The cam shaft position sensor is near the crankshaft pulley, sort of between harmonic balancer and front of timing cover near bottom. Get to it from under neath the truck. 10mm socket with very short extesion. Oil pressure regularor is in the valley on the front drivers side down deep. very hard to get too.. Have to remove air cleaner, box, and air tube and a small breather from top of valve cover to get to it. we just had one out of one of our trucks. A small hand also helps.

They were likely referring to the Injection control pressure Regulator that screws into the High pressure Pump! Lower left at rear of pump.
You can remove the tin nut and coil then remove the spool valve with a 1-1/8 or 1-1/4 socket.
The Valve needs to be correct for the Year of your Truck/Engine SN.

The Engine is able to run with the ICP Sensor unplugged at a default value.

The ICP Regulator needs to maintain 800Psi to idle engine. If I remember right it needs to be minimum of 500psi to start the engine.

hello glennster; ran into one doing this a while back. I also had no way to scan @ the time, but found the coil that slides over HP oil reg. had came loose & vibes from running would shake it back, losing contact. hp oil reg is in v of engine, screwed into back of hp oil pump wall. coil is held on with one small nut @ back of sensor--good luck- Paul
