1010 john deere VALUE????

i need to know the price on a 1010 john deere. on the serial number plate it says 1010W if i recall right. it is a very nice tractor good paint low hours i think. its on good turf tires all the way around. good 3 pt hitch and all. runs good. also got "shift on the go". the shifter lever is on the dash. What do yall think its worth? im a international boy all the way and i aint no deere fan but this seems like a good tractor...

This is tobacco country, so the small farmalls were a lot more popular because the cultivators were much, much better. My grandfather had one for a while, and he said the way the dist. was placed made it get moisture in it all the time and you had to dry it out a lot to get it started. Otherwise, whenever somebody mentions one, somebody always remarks that they were sorry tractors.

Speaking of Gasser only ....they were not a powerful practical well thoght out in charater of other Jdeere at the time this tractor was built , kinda of a JDeere after thought ,........... Personaly You Would be Just as well off with a VAC , or Super C ,, Will not cost as much ,,brother bought a fixer -up special 1010 15 yrs ago for a little under a thousand , No fenders , missing grills ,, Used it a couple summers til he figured out its Qwirks and sold it for what he paid ,,Next owner ended up selling it for parts/salvage

thanks for the info. i think i can get it really cheap because the guy dont know how to price nothing. im always one to be looking for the deals. back in 2007 i when to an estate/yardsale and brought a farmall 140 (1977) in good shape but not good paint for 1200 bucks. also bought fertilizer hopper (good shape) for $5. no lie. also picked up 35 hp diesel for 3800 at the same place.

The late gasser 1010's were better. You are however looking at Deere's attempt to built a Farmall.
Deere's part support is pretty skimpy on these 1010/2010 models they wish to forget. The 1010's components which are common with the 420/430 two cylinders are stocked well enough.
I would hold out for a Dubuque or Mannheim built utility tractor from the 20,30,40,50 or 55 series.
Better yet take the $4000.00 or what ever and use it for a down payment on an economy version of the 4000 series models in M4WD.
"Shift on the go"? Do you mean a reverser or a 5 speed dash shifter?

Am I thinking correctly that the 1010 had the 115 CI gas engine? Just a hair bigger than the 113 CI's in a 420. I don't know much about the 115 engine but have worked with the 145 and 165 engine in combines and they are dang near bullet proof. If the 115 went out I would put a combine engine in it and be good to go. The 40 and 45 combines used HA 145G and HA 165G engines.

I would like to know that also. Those JD engines were great engines and thw W says a low built type tractor, entirely different than any of the others they say are better because they will not do the type of work that JD is designed for.
