Sicle mower question

I have a 800 series Ford tractor and was looking for a sicle mower to mow fence rows. I found a side mount sicle mower for an 8 N tractor. Would that side mount sicle mower work on an 861 Ford tractor.

Probably would, but you wouldn't be happy with it unless you only used the tractor for that.

Be careful if you find a Dearborn rear mount too. There were 2 different types. The early ones were quite a conglomeration of rods and supports that went way up under the tractor. The later ones were pretty much hook and go.

I have an older Dearborn model 14-15 that I use with the 8N. It didn't fit just right and even with modifications it's not the best marriage. If you're cutting under fences and along tree lines you should ok. Cutting hay is obviously out of the question

We had a rear mount Dearborn sickle bar mower.
3pth and 7' cutterbar. One person could mount it to the tractor but it went better with 2. We used it with the following tractors over the years. TE20 and TO30 Fergusons.641 Ford.Ford 2000 and Ford 800(850)The 2000 was a later model.
3 cyl.gas engine and a 4x2 tranny.

Al, you wouldn't be unhappy with an Int 1300 or such 3-pt dynabalance mower. Easy to mount & use. There is a New Idea model ?? (the same mower). The later New Hollands (451 etc) are good. I have an Int 1300 & have used it on a half dozen tractors-probably 8 or 9 tractors. Mows banks, etc. Wolfy.
