putting a loader to work

My wife snapped this shot of me picking my son up from the bus stop Friday...our dog, George, loves bucket rides...

any bump ejects the child from the bucket and onto the ground before you have time to react and and stop the foward motion of the tractor.

Yup,when I think about how much the kids liked to ride up to the rafters in the toolshed it makes me cringe. I've seen how fast a loader comes down when a hose blows.

o.k, o.k. lesson well taken, in my defense, I'm only traveling 50 feet, never any gear higher than 1st, end of driveway & back, but, lesson learned, please stop the scolding,

No scolding from me. If you drive slow and use a little common sense it is a lot of fun. Yes it is more dangerous than setting inside the house watching TV, but I'd bet he has a greater chance of getting hurt playing high school football than riding in your loader bucket.

Kinda shows you what kind of people are on here any more don't it. You did nothing wrong, it's a good photo and I like it when folks show haveing a good time with their family. Keep it up you're a good dad and I'd say the dog loves you too.

That's great! Looks like that unit will move a lot of snow.Or a lot of kids and dogs! My kids used to like riding in the bucket.I used to like lifting the bucket full height and then tipping it.That scared 'em and they had to hang on the back of the bucket to keep from slipping out."Well don't get in it whenever I start it up then" says I. So they didn't do that anymore.

Great picture and you will have some great memories.Have fun just be safe and use caution. You can get hit by a bus crossing the street ,but we all still cross the street.

Nice looking New Idea/Horn loader.Need another one? Can't sell one I have.Probably couldn't give it away.

looks like there having fun there, i rode miles in a bucket as a kid, never had a problem, i still do when my wife is driving the tractor, in spite of the safety police, those ekids will remember these times forever id do it in a minite, how did you get the dog to ride, mine wont ride in a bucket or on a trailer, but a flatbed truck is fine

Most of the fun we had growing up was dangerous by today's standards. Can't recall the sont title but, -mothers who drank and smoked and beds with lead paint and we turned out alright-.

I was riding in a loader bucket when due to operator error I was dumped from about 6' onto a concrete floor.Still have back problems from that.

We have 1938 Case Model C that was always used for plowing. Dad would sometimes have 3 of us kids riding with him. Big brother on the left fender, Big sister on the right fender and me
sitting sandwiched between Dad and steering wheel. Dad said it made the Case pull the plow better with the extra weight of us kids. Never fell off. Made good memories for Dad having the kids out in the fields with him. And, yes, safety was always a consideration.

WE HAD A DOG THAT WOULD RIDE IN THE LOADER BUCKET AND STOOD ON THE EDGE,EVEN AT FULL RAISED HEIGHT. THAT DOG,ROVER,LOVED IT.HE NEVER TRIED TO JUMP OUT.I THINK HE LIKED THE WIND IN HIS FACE.

say what you like about the folks on here but the bottom line is this, tractors, old or new, are not toys. in most cases and most certianly this case, the tractor operator can not see the load in the bucket and will probably run over the load if it should fall out. lack of any shock absording suspension increases the chances of ejection. ask the grandfather here locally who ran over his grandson when he was ejected from the bucket. slow speed makes no difference if you can not see the object. maybe it these actions that make agri related events one of the most hazardous.

Nice pic and if you feel safe knock your self out. When I was your son's size my grand dad had me in a bucket half way up with a chain saw cutting limbs around hay fields.

Good looking dog too.
