I'm seriously thinking about buying a neighbors 966. The throttle creeps down and there is alot play in the shifter. The shifter forks were replaced maybe a 100hr.s ago. What are the possible fixes for these 2 problems.

The shifter system takes some time and a bit of analysis, but it is most likely due to wear on several pivot and linkage ends. Starting from one end, look for lost motion and "wiggle" in the movement. Replace bushings pins and worn parts as needed.
The throttle friction disk is under the dash, and takes a bit of getting to it. But is simple aspring and disk system. The spring may be weak or rusted thin, and the disk may be thin and polished. caseih.com has diagrams of the linkage and throttle tensioner in the search for parts link. JimN
