Just scored an awesome original condition Farmall M

I just scored a 1950 Farmall "M" today. It has been "barned" it's whole life and shows 3000 hrs on the orig hour meter!!! This thing is in incredible original condition and totally complete without any mod's. It is in need of a gentle cleaning and I would like to figure out how to clean and polish (or restore the original lustre) to it without damaging the 60 year old paint. I have built two "Trailer Queens" in the past but would like to keep this one "all original" Due to it's unbelievable condition.
Anyone have any idea's on how to make it shine but not too much as to degrade the originalty of the tractor?

very fine rubbing or swirl mark remover polish and then good wax. I would just do it on the sheet metal parts as it may be hard to remove from cast items.

I've had real good luck with a yellow bottle called "Scratchout" and a tshirt. I've used it with a buffer also, but it soaks up alot. When I bought my pickup, it had been setting for quite awhile under a tree and was faded w/ sap marks. Used some stuff the wife had in the kitchen. Had real fine pumice in it and looked kinda like polishing compound (but finer I think). Follow with a good paste wax and admire. Be sure to take/post before and after pics.

Just wondering DieselDale you said it had 3000 hours on the meter. Did Farmall have that as an option? I have never heard of it before not that I am a farmall nut or any thing. I worked on a farm that had 17 of them when I was a kid. I have put an aftermarket one tucked away in the battery box on my 2 cylinder John deers after restoration just to keep track for my self.

Check out that Dakota Shine product. Lots of guys use that on combines and tractors to make them look really good. If you start wheeling it and buffing it the paint probably will start to get looking funky.

the real late m's did have an hour meter, runs off the front of the gear that drives the distributor. i have a late m that also has one, i think all the super m's had em.

my late 53 super m doesn't have one, the only way to guess how many hours it has on it is to look at how worn off the diamonds on the clutch pedal are.
