JD 148 Loader Front Bracket Part

We are looking for the front bracket that goes where the weights are on the tractor. It is just large enough to wrap around the front of the tractor where the weights go. Not all JD tractors needed this front bracket to mount the tractor, but mine does. Does anyone know where I can get one, other than the JD dealer? Yes, I know I can take a plate and find a welder but around here I would have to ask a neighbor to let me take their bracket off and give it as a template. My welder does not have time to do this prospect and my neighbor is not happy for borrowing the mount. JD wants too much for this simple plate of steel. Any ideas where we can get a used one? I think that part is made of fairly thick cast steel. It would be nearly impossible for a welding shop to duplicate from scratch. I don't know what kind of money John Deere wants for that part, I'm sure it isn't cheap, but without that mounting bracket, you can't use the loader, and if you can't use it, that loader isn't worth very much.

Just another way of looking at the cost of parts.

It might be easier to find the weight bracket that goes there and is made to bolt to your loader brackets. chris

To Rusty Farmall: You sound like someone who has been brainwashed by a dealer. Don't tell people to give up so easily. I was asking for help, not for someone to tell me to give up - we didn't need lectures. About the bracket, For one thing, it is made out of plain 1/2" steel, not cast. Turns out my welder already had a scrap piece of 1/2" steel which he can bend to fit and drill 6 holes. P.S The previous owner used this loader without the front bracket on a 4630. While the front piece adds stability, it is not necessary, but it looks good and I want to do it right since I am reselling the loader. For $80 the problem has been solved. I look at the price of parts all the time. How much money have i saved over theyears going to the hydraulic parts store to get orings and packings . And I buy the ones I need, not the whole kit JD forces you to buy. I just buy the brushes for the starter instead of buying a new starter. Being a self-employed tractor mechanic for 25 years, I could go on and on about how to save. Please don't be so quick to tell people to give up. If you can cut and weld, you can build ANYTHING. Thanks to the guy with the weight bracket suggestion with the existing holes. However, that bracket cost more than the mounting bracket I was trying to find.

I've been pulling on wrenches for over 40 years. I've also worked as a machinist, and I now own a parts business. I speak from experience when I told you to to just get the correct part either new or used. Also, I've had experience with a #148 loader mounted on a 4020. Do as you wish, but if you want that loader to bring what it should, it needs to have all of the correct parts with it.

JD also had a steel frt weight support(not the cast iron type) that the loader bracket would mount to. The old part # is AR72132 which subbed to R117599.

THAT explains it!! I knew you were a dealer or a parts dealer. All of you get that "attitude" when someone dares to bypass your system and your pocketbook. I got $4,500 for the loader - top dollar. You know yourself that plate isn't worth $200. The loader is mounted and working well. I appreciate all the other responses who are concerned with helping me, not berating a fellow mechanic. I'm glad you are in another state. My reputation speaks for itself. You have not been helpful and you need to move on.

No skin off my back. I am not a John Deere dealer, and I very seldom deal in any used machinery or tractor parts.

Also, Everyone that reads these forums can readily see where I am located, and they also have ready access to my email. Can you say the same?
