How was the model 2 harvester any stories would be great? I noticed in the operators manual on the number 2 harvester that the heads were not interchagable with a windrow pickup; did this mean you had to have the 75p chopper for the hay and other windrow crops also? I'm guessing during the late 40's and early 50's a farmer had to have both impliments for forage harvesting. Other manufactures made harvesters with interchangeble heads I think I wonder why IH took longer to come out with such a field harvester with interchangeble pickup units. I'm guessing the 20c was IH's first with interchangeble heads?

A lot of that would be that they didnt chop hay many yrs ago as the silage was corn and simular row crops as i can remember when chopping hay was a new fad even oats. They even had corn binders to cut the stalks then fed them into a cutter blower to fill the silo. After WWII things changed fast.Rhey even made soybean hay.
