O/T progressive

Does anyone have Progressive insurance for their autos. Pros / Cons. Thinking about changing any comments would be helpful. Thanks

I know that they charge more if you have a flatbed on a pickup. I have both of my flat bed pickups insured with state farm because the give a discount for flat beds. My newer box bed pickup is through progressive.

They will give you a great rate to get your bussiness, then raise your rates at each renewal.
I didn't have any trouble with their service just couldn't stand the increase.

I asked them for a quote. They would not cover my pick up They stated because it was a work vehicle , a motor or something I was hauling may fall out on the road . I got good laugh over that . They pick the cream of the crop low risk people to insure, like gieco and the rest of those lowball ins companies. .

From the other side....a small claim with someone else's Prog. policy will get paid easy, but when the drunk with Prog. hit my parents, they fought every dollar paid on real injuries and did not want to pay over loan value or less for the van and ended up in mediation to get anything settled.

For the hell they put my parents through, I would never pay them a cent of premium.

Prog. is a owned by and a big time donor to nnalert. That may be good or bad depending on your opinions.

I've used Progressive since 1999 and my rates have never gone up, only down. Of course, when I first started with them I was in my 20's so you can only go down from there. Are you sure there wasn't some other thing raising your rates like moving to a different ZIP code? My rate was literally cut in half when I moved out of the city I was going to college in.

The reason I've stuck with them is because I like being able to log in to their website to pay the bill or change my vehicles around without having to talk with anyone. Although when I have called them, they've been OK on the phone too I guess.

have had them for 10+ years and have been very happy. wife totaled out a 2 year old SUV and it is the first time i MADE money on a ins. claim. our rates have NEVER went up but down every year. i check around every year and NO one comes close with the rates apples to apples. we don't have a agent but use Progressive Direct. wife rolled the SUV at 3;30 called them at about 3;45 they returned my call 5 minn. latter. next morning at 9;00am the adjuster was in our yard look at the SUV said it's a total and by 10;00 the same day we had our check she did it all out in her car and she took care of the tow bill and the Mail box she hit during the roll. we replaced the SUV with a new one and our rates went DOWN never up

Had a car in the shop the other day and noticed a small box connected to the computer link with "Progressive" on it. Asked the cust. about it and was told it was a g.p.s. unit and if the car went over 70 mph for more than 2 min. they would raise his rates. Seems a little Big Brotherish to me, but I guess if you're doing what you should be then it wouldn't matter.

I have them and have been satisfied even when I hit a deer 8 years ago they paid quick and no hassle. I now have a claim in witch a woman driving a truck that was issued to her husband for work pulled out in front of me. I am not sure if she was even allowed to drive it but when my agent witch is a progressive rep calls them tomorrow I will be able to tell more about the situation. I gave the people 12 days now to contact me and settle it between private parties but no call. I got the accident report today and took it to my agent.

My body shop guy says all insurance companies are the same EXCEPT for Progressive. He has to fight for EVERYTHING a vehicle needs when they are involved. He would HIGHLY recommend against them. Greg

Had Progressive for a year or two. Nothing good or bad about them, but American Family saved me money and I now have all of my insurance with them. I check others for quotes every couple years and they don't do any better than AmFam...

thats BS it's a little blue and clear box the dose keep track of your driving habits but i will bet he forgot to tell you you get paid 50.00 to do it and YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DO IT.i got 150.00 from them to study our driving habits [3 times] and I'm just like anyone else i do speed some times and have jack rabbit starts and our rates have never went up.

Ive had Progressive for 3 years and my rates went down last year and a little lower this year.

I have it on one of my motorcycles. I wanted to add another motorcycle. No problem they said. The price was the same for both bikes, actually I got a dollar back. Stan

I work at a body shop and would not use progressive. We have to fight them to get paid for anything, they demand we use the cheapest crap parts from china that we can get. I think for liabilitay ins. it might be ok for you but would hate to be the sucker you run in to! Just not worth the hassle. For what its worth state farm is the best to work with and they use mostly oem parts and requrie good traning.

remember too that a cheap insurance company is usualy just that, a cheap company not much good when it comes time to start writing checks, when you look at insurance companies you want the ones that insist on correct repairs with the oem parts and are prompt about getting the repairs done , i had national insurance on a kenworth it was totaled in a wreck that was not my fault by a doper kid with no insurance, it took them 3 months to respond to the claim, with the truck losing money every day because it couldnt run when they did respond the first time it was a member of the ethnic group than lives in el paso tx and he told me to put in on a trailer and bring the truck down to him with my pickup so he could see it, i asked him if he knew what we were working on here, he thought a kenworth was some kind of a forgine made pickup, i hung up on him and called their home ofice rather miffed by now they did send somebody out but it took almost 5 months from wreck to turn key on the replacement truck, not good

I'm not sure how things may have changed but Progressive left a real bad taste in my mouth for a good while, til I set em straight !

Clean abstract here, no DUI/DWI's, no accidents, and no speeding tickets etc. I signed on with progressive in 1996, same year I bought a new mustang cobra convertible. A car like that obviously will be more to insure, but they had the best rate and decent coverage, and for the driving/vehicles I had, coverage was acceptable. I added a '94 ford ranger and in '98 a '96 F-150. By '99 or '00 maybe even sooner, they jacked my rates up, almost exponentially, no reason, nothing changed on my abstract. My agent did nothing, and for a reason I can't remember, I was kinda stuck with em. So I started paying last minute, drove my agent nuts, he'd call me every month, was paying about $500/month. I could not believe the rate increase, and that they went to 6 month terms instead of 1 year, also seemed like they did this with no warning. Well I had an accident in my yard, accelerator stuck after coming the road/hill I live on and I impaled the Ranger into a boat trailer hitch, over the bumper, crunching the fender and corner post, pushed that side door back too. No frame damage though, just that corner post on the cab, which qualifies it to be totalled, as it calls for a new cab, no longer available. Well I sat on that claim til the right time, truck was paid off in the interim. I called Geico and got a quote, it was $1700.00 less expensive and I got better coverage, significantly more coverage.

I called Progressive, fall of '01 told them I have a claim, they came out, looked at the Ranger, totalled it, paid me $5800.00 on it, I also bought it back for $200, did a pretty decent repair on it too, with low mileage, like 59,000 it was still worth $2500 + or minus. I got all the money back they stuck me for at those high rates, + the truck and it did not have to have a junk title either, some loophole I discovered, I firmly believe what comes around goes around, I was really unhappy with Progressive and what they did, I had a clean record, + multi-vehicles, did that per the discount the agent said multi vehicles would give me. I canceled them as soon as I cashed that $5800.00 check, went with Geico at the $1700.00 savings and better coverage. Progressive was a snake in the grass, who bit me hard, I bit back just as hard and settled the score, not sure what they are like today, I would not trust em because of what they did to me, a good paying, with a clean driving record customer. I'm happy I stuck it right back to them, all legal too, so what I sat on the claim, it was covered by their policy the whole time since it ocurred.

I had progressive for a while, never had to try it out for claims. They doubled the rate the rate when my son turned 16 so I went to Farm Bureau. Lee

They sent me letters in the mail and the day they called, I blew a gasket. They were calling for my son, at the time he was age 15 and deceased by 4 months. I inquired as to how they received his information and the only comment was that he had recently signed up for insurance. When asked what "recently" meant, the gal claimed it was within the past week. I nicely told her that was not possible and explained the situation. She then said that they buy names from mailing list and then tell people someone requested a quote to get past the no call list requirements. I was not impressed at all and vowed to never do anything with for my insurance needs. Plus the fact they hired a local deadbeat for an adjustor. I have better rates through Erie, and I would pay more to avoid progressive.

As I understand it George Soros owns Progressive Insurance. He didn't choose the "Progressive" name for nothing. If you can abide an anti American, anti-capitalist hypocrite like Soros, a truly evil man in my book, go for it.
