Back in Wisconsin

We stopped in Dyersville on Wed. and mad almost a full day of it. We had breakfast at the Dyersville Family restaraunt, then went to the toy tractor museum. That was lots of fun and I ended up buying a model 1950T Cockshutt.

When we were getting in the car I saw the outklet store just down the street, so we went over there and I found a model 540 Cockshutt corn planter to go behind the tractor. Then my wife grabbed a tourist info brochure and saw that they had a Basilica so we went there and got in on a tour that was going through. I have to admit, that church was absolutely beautiful. Stopped at the Feild of Dreams then and spent a good while there just enjoying the weather.

After that my wife wanted to see postville and then we headed home. Was really fun driving on the less traveled roads and the twisting & winding ones through some cliffs and such.

We stopped in Sun Prarie for the night and finished the drive yesterday. Got home just in time too. I ended up hauling about 12-13 loads of manure and hopefully we can get the rest of the feild today and get it worked in, then as long as the weather cooperates we will try to get the corn in on Saturday after having pre-plant herbicide sprayed.

Sitting on the couch with my dog curled up next to me now- She's glad we're home and so is my wifes dog. They stayed with our parents while we were gone.

Feels good to be back home, but Iowa was fun.

Don,

Glad you enjoyed yourself in my favorite part of Iowa. We lived in Cedar Rapids for 17 years and I loved to go to Dyersville and northeast from there...ice fishing, trout streams, and beautiful scenery.

Kinda hard to go thru Dyersville without buying some toys ain't it?

Gary, top shelf, left side, just ahead of the 2+2, what model "86" series is that with MFWD? BTW...... nice collection!

You have brought back a lot of memories. I was born at Waterloo eighty years ago. I remember trips to NE Iowas as a child with my parents and Grand parents. There is Billy Btother Clocks, The smallest church. Super Highway have done away with wandering through the county side and enjoying natural beauty and country life.

Speaking of toy tractors, I toured the
IH factory in (I think) Rock Island, IL (one of those quad cities) in 1972 and bought a toy 856 for my son. He played with it pretty hard, but it is still in good shape. Maybe it is valuable?? It was a few years old when I bought it cause the 66 series were rolling off the assembly line that day. Of all the tractor shows that I've attended, I've seen a lot of toy tractors but never an exact 856 like the one from the factory.

That is a customized 1086 MFD. My kids had someone build it for me. Cause I had one of the big ones.

I was just curious. My neighbor has a 1486 with MFD, and it just has this look of being the "bad boy" of the yard.
