Ford 1210 Axle Seal

I have a 1986 Ford 1210, 4WD. Lately I have noticed oil leakage from under rear end. Upon further investigation I see this is from the Right Rear Axle Seal. Can anyone tell me if this is very difficult fix, and is there anything else recommended be done while rear end is apart.
I don't want to pay the big bucks to the dealer, yet I also don't want any surprises once I tear into this either.

It looks like pretty straight forward repair. I can't remember how the roll bar mounts on those, but I'd say it and the fender must come off, the it's just a matter of draining the rear end and removing the side housing. I'd be checking the brakes while you are there

Best thing to do is buy a real New Holland Repair Manual and a Parts Manual. Study them both first. Should not be a problem. Tom

You have to take the rear end 'apart'? Just to change a seal?

It's the same procedure for any tractor with flange axles.

Yes, the Axle Seal will not pass over the wheel hub, so the Housing must be broke down and the axle pulled.

I would presume so, I wouldn't see any other method. The seal can't pass over the wheel hub on the end of the axle.

In a month or so when the grass stops growing for a while I'll give it a shot.
