Baling Wire

Since all the horse hay we get comes with twine. I sure miss the baling wire. Seams like I am always looking for a piece of wire. I have been using electric fenec wire which is much thinner. I hit the jackpot. At the neighbors farm sale I bought a new 100 lb roll of bailing wire for 7.00. What is a roll of wire selling for now? I will have enough wire for my life time, and several more generations of my family. Stan

Make sure to keep the box dry and intact. Find the "Start end". My dad would alway pour a little diesel fuel in each new box. Course when we were baling heavy we went through 2 or 3 boxes a day. He thought the diesel made it feed better. Set the cardboard box on a piece of 1X8 so the moisture doesn't get too it.

You are set for life.

Local store has baling wire for $72 a roll, bought some back in 96 for $32 and I thought that was alot. And we're 3/4 through the roll now, bought it for tying barb wire to steel posts, gates and everything else. chris

I think baling wire comes from factory not as oily as back 20 or 30 yrs ago. Probably due to price of oil. I always oil all new rolls of baling wire so it will slide through wire guides easier.
