To start with I took my spare trailer tire to see why it had a bulge on the side wall. It had one about the size of a foot ball on the inside also. Never seen that before. Bought a new tire. Got to my mowing job, after a few hours I had a front flat, but I had a spare was going in a short time. Then the big problem happened. The front mower lift arm attaching bolt broke off at the axel housing. With less than a hour to go I finished the mowing dragging one corner of my mower on the ground. Now I have something to do next monday. I almost forgot it's my birthday today.(67) Hope you all have a safe 4th. Stan

The slave cylinder for the clutch on the high-boy failed. Took it apart and honed the barrel. Added a backup o-ring behind the rubber cup and was back in buisiness in about 2 hrs. But then it started sprinkling so I didn't get much spraying done. Spraying roundup on beans.

Looks like you have me beat. I went on Sully Ia's annual 4th of July tractor ride. About 2hrs into the ride and right before the first rest stop the generator started running wild. Pulled the cover and found a flake of rust stuck between the regulator points. Removing the rust flake was all I had to do.

Not too bad. Had to move a bunch of crap to mow the grass around the barns. Hit something pretty good bout half way through, what I did today, and bent a blade. Not too bad just the one corner of one blade. Leaves a mark but I kept mowing anyway. Have to decide if I want to fetch a new blade or just finish up.....

Well happy birthday 37 chief.I was hoping to be done with baling 1st crop hay a couple days ago but the sun only came out for a few hours, got 175 bales before the clouds rolled in ,still have about 5 acres to do that I cut 6 days ago ,and another 8 acres to cut and bale, its been cloudy but no rain, can't bale hay if the sun don't shine, have a happy and safe 4th.

Blew the main Hyd. hose on a Cat 826C Compactor about 2PM. Tore it down and headed to local NAPA parts store. Luckly we have an AWESOME Napa store in Worthington MN that has a large inventory of hyd adapters. $460 later and we were heading home with new hoses for Monday morning. Have a great 4th!

Happy B day. Now as far as problems today not much other then that wasp sitting down real hard on my arm. He will not do that again but I also had to give up doing anything more because I'm allergic to bee/wasp stings and after getting nailed I have to take it easy and hope it doesn't get bad. Plus I was home alone when it happened so it could have gotten bad. Arm has swelled some and I'll have to take a benadril before going to bed

hey old ,I'm allergic to bee stings too ,take a chunk of raw onion and put it on the sting ,swelling goes down and the pain too.

Happy birthday and many more.

Today I dug the old Deere RW 14' disk out of the grass ao I could disk up about an acre of corn I sprayed with the wrong herbicide. (yes, I'm embarrased and it's right by the road) The disk kind of a family heirlom of sorts as dad bought it new in 1958 and has been on the farm ever since. A bearing was siezed up on a gang so I dropped the gang and pulled the bearings and blades off. Found out bearings are $66 apiece and they're all bad or going bad as they are the origionals, and so are the blades. It's not worth replacing $800 worth of bearings plus another couple hundred for blades on a $35 disk that is used once every three years, so I guess an old family friend has to go. Whadda ya think of removing all the gangs and putting a blade on it for light grading?Jim

Hey Old the next time you get stung, put a copper penny on the sting. It really worked for me. In about two minutes the swelling went down and the sting was gone.

The wife's car crapped out about 90 miles from home yesterday and while I was home killing time today before I went to retrieve her and it, I decided to cut down a broken down tree that was hit last weekend and then my chainsaw engine siezed up. I went to retrieve them this afternoon and nothing bad happened. The chainsaw waits until the wife's car is back in operation.

went to run the riding mower in a area i cant work my jubilee and brush hog in, it made a mooing kind of noise and wouldnt cut worth nothing, hooked it up to the jd's front end loader and picked it up so i could get at it, turned out the little woman had decided to "help me" while i was on a late run in the truck by mowing some places for me- 10 minutes after a rain, the mower deck was packed solid right down to the blades, lol, i just love help

Stan, Happy Birthday and Happy Independence Day to you.

Spent all day taking down more trees for my brother. Not so much trouble as it is work. The biggest 26" at the bottom cut, the others not much smaller. That's just work. It's easier in the winter or after the snow's just melted and the ground hasn't thawed when its cooler and there aren't leaves and a blowing wind to deal with. Only one of them fell where I planned, two were kind of close, and the last blew over me and back into the woods. When the wind picks up after you're almost through the cut, wedges don't guide squat. Being Independence Day, I'm done smoking today, that's for sure because I still have to load and deliver it today, and nearly died yesterday. Well, its still kind of cool out, best to get going soon cause it aint going to be fun under any conditions, has to get done, and may as well get done while its cooler. Son of a gun, thats work.

My wife took the summer off for the first time in over 20 years of teaching. I retired this year AND it's raining like crazy. All this equals me, stuck in the house, with a crazy woman and a honey-do list!!! I've done more finish work in 4 days than in the last 15 years.....

Get used to THE honey do LIST. It never shrinks, only gets longer. I finally had to get a part time job to escape from THE LIST. Make sure that you work in the morning so your can waste time getting home and really shorten the day.. I visited all my buddies on the way home, walked thru hardware stores, Lowes, Home Depot etc. That way you can arrive at home just before supper and do a small job after. Thats my advice and I'm sticking with it. (Of course now that I am older that dirt I can just claim aches and pains etc, for about half the day) Henry

Drill and tap for a grease fitting in the flange and pump it full of grease. If you only do an acre every 3 yrs. I bet it will last another 50 yrs. before the shaft breaks.
