well i posted on the rattle snake topic on the next page this morning, today i found 2 different rattle snakes on the road at different times and different places both medium sized, both found 80,000 lbs of peterbilt unbearable, that will mean a coupleless cows or sheep with snake bites in those areas maybe

Just ran over one with my pick up yesterday. I only whack the rattle sankes and it is a split second decision but fortunately I've never smashed any other sankes on purpose.

Well so far never seen any rattler in my area but I do kill every copper head I see. Now as for the others like black snakes as long as they are not in the chicken house I leave them alone or maybe catch them and move them. Got bit the other day by a black snake in of all place the parking lot of my parts store. Caught it and let it go in the weed by the store. The bite did bleed for a bit but it was my mistake as to how I did things

Just to clear things up, We have a few beneficial snakes in our area and those I leave alone. Rattle snakes are ant food if found by me.I had to replace , fix some wood on our porch because my wife(terribly afraid of snakes due to a close call)Stepped out on our porch and found a snake about 2 feet from the door. The Mossburg 12 gauge was close so she obliterated it, and, part of our porch. I had the 357 loaded with blue cap shot rounds with me. No mercy on rattlers.

i will admit i only kill rattlers, i have several big bull snakes on the place that i see about twice a year, it will give me a start when i see them, but the rounded head id's it every time those are good snakes and helpwith the rats and mice, there also not argessive snakes ,the rattlers are very agressive here and ill kill every one i see we got those green timber rattlers here too

I can't say we ever needed to think about poisonous snakes here, but all snakes here are beneficial. I try my best not to harm any here but the odd accident happens to them when you're working fields with tractors. I'd probably think different if I had to live around rattlers or copperheads etc.

RUN OVER IT WITH YOUR TRUCK ??????????????
I've heard of a fella who got mighty sick from
changing a tire that he ran over, and the
rattlesnake bit the tire. The man got scratched by
a broken off fang in the tire, and ended up in
the hospital.

As I said in the other posts, we leave the our big black snakes alone. We have killed a couple accidentally when cutting the hay field, but never on purpose.

Only snakes we deliberately kill are ones that can and will hurt us - water moccasins and copperheads.

For those of you who have never encountered a moccasin, they are EXTREMELY aggressive. Very nasty attitude. They will chase you and/or swim across the pond to get at you, will drop out of a tree to join you in your boat. You don't fool around with them, you kill them.

We've never seen a rattler at our place, but if we do, will dispose of it if possible.

Every rattler I have come across with any kind of weapon is a dead one. I have only seen one this year and that was when I was walking from the truck to the back of the trailer to unload some cows. Someone had taken out both the rifle and shovel from the truck before I left with them so I didn't have anything to kill him with. Thank god he wasn't grumpy as he never did coil up or rattle even with all the commotion of the cows in the trailer.
