Easy. They usually have a bush hog on them. The tractor is either up to the hood in water or upside down in a ditch. Also often found upside down ontop of a log or large stone. With a tow chain connected to the top link of the three point hitch.

Hopefully some day we will read that you were under one of them in the ditch. Until then we can only hope.

So now that all the wise crackers have told you here is the real truth.
On the left side if the engine about center just below the head is the serial number. 9N and 2N start with 9N. 9N and 2N have 3 speed trannys and front distributor. 8N serial number starts with 8N and has a 4 speed tranny. ALL are flat head engines but the later as in mid 1950 to 1952 8N has a side mount distributor.
All I can say about how the other people answered you question is it is sad how people are now days

Paul from MN gave him his answer long before you contributed... Ya might consider loosening up a bit. BuickandDeere always hates the N series tractors and alot of us good naturedly bust his chops back. Saying everyones response was sad is well....really sad. Hope you can still laugh at something.

LOL
I'm finally getting ahold of this guy's sense of humor.
Methinks however that it is the rye that makes his humor so wry towards those little Fords.

Paul did not answer his question he gave him a link to go to to answer the question.
As for what I said I answer straight to the point no stupid games and ya it is ok to joke some but there is a place and time for it and since I have never seen this guy before I do not and will not joke around and I have been here long enough that I see no reason to joke around if some one wants the truth

since the problem of identifying the n series, has been addressed and i'll be gone for awhile maybe here is something to ponder, ol henry ford designed his ford tractor to take the place of 2 horses on a small farm, he designed it to be completly understood, operated, mantained, and repaired in the field by farmers used to using horses to farm with and just think, there are people here who can operate a computer but just cant figure out how to run those old fords without getting in trouble with them, lol just stiring the pot a mite fellas

o not attempt this at home! You can tell this is a 9/2N by the rear wheels. David..................

It is ok to joke around but if and only if the persons question has been answered and not with another link to some place else. I this guy is like I am he is on dial up and going to another link could take another 10 minutes or more and that is not fun.

You sure got that right old,,, seems any time some one puts in a opinion, it's put down for one reason or another,

I suppose the guy who said, hermaphrodite underbridge dwellers live in Texas, is right,

sure glad Bush lives there,, he can led the pack
