What kind of tractor should I repower with a 5.9 cummins?

Bought a 5.9 Cummins from my nephew.
What should I put it in? Possibly a 856 IH, 806IH
or maybe an Oliver. Any ideas?

Naturally asperated or turboed? Personnally speaking I would get the rated rpm to hp numbers from the spec sheet and try to match it with whatever tractor you choose also torque curves vary engine by engine and Cummins is noted for torque curve strength so rearend strength has to be considered you don"t want to shave off bull gear teeth under weighted heavy loads. There are a lot of things to consider unless your playing around and don"t care. I would look at a planetary drive tractor. The big problem I see is the tractors you mentioned are close to 40 years old or older and unless you know they are sound you could experience problems. But I admire your idea and it sounds like something I would try! Good Luck CT

There are several Ollies and Whites running around here with 5.9 Cummins in them. If it"s the right HP rating, find a White 2-135 FWA with a blown Herky in it and make it a good tractor.
