International Farmall Cud HELP

Suggestions of Problem, I had the carbureator rebuilt, new battery, changed the wiring, tractor will not crank. Prior to rebuilding carburator, tractor would crank, however gas would flood out of the carburator the reason for rebuilding. Now I cannot get it to crank at all.

I would start with the simple stuff. Check for spark, check point gap, pull a plug or two and see if they are wet, etc... When you changed the wiring, did you pull out the distributor or turn it?

Remove the plugs, and crank without the ignition on. (safety first) you could have gasoline in the cylinders. You will need an oil change, and rags to clean it up. If this is not it, loosen the starter on the engine and wiggle it a bit. Then retighten to unjamb the drive. Do not run it with contaminated oil. Always shut off the gasoline at the tank when shutting off the tractor (every time) JimN

I have done all that, I am going to take plugs out again and spin engine, and make sure there isn't any gas in the cylinders.

Thank you

I just pulled it out, I did not turn it. I am going to recheck spark plugs, point gap again to see if everything is in order. If you can think of anything else I would appreciate it.

Thank you
Wayne

If it sat long enough it might have flooded and filled the block to top inside with gas and be locked hydraulically. That happened to my dad once.

For a quick check---get a spray bottle, suitable for gasoline, and spray into the carburetor while cranking. If it fires, look at the carburetor as the problem. Just because it was rebuilt doesn't mean it is good.

Terminology can get in the road to be run over.
Cranking is what a starter motor (or hand crank) does to an engine.
Starting and running is what happens when the cranking is successful.
What is happening? I am confused. JimN
