I read that last night. Knowing the French they may have got their a$$es kicked by those Somali pirates. (not the mention that the French may have not had real bullets in their guns)

I hope that the French troops just shot all of them, then dump them in the ocean.
 
Looking at the picture of the ship, it's easy to see how they would have mistaken it for a freighter at night. It's described as a "logistics ship".

It's quite apparent you know nothing of the French efforts in the piracy fight. Educate yourself before you make ignorant remarks.
 
The Somali's probably had some used French surplus military fire arms. You can get them pretty cheap and most have only been thrown down two or three times.
 
The French didn't even fire a shot at either boat.Should have blown both Pirate boats out of the water.If they'd of known they were French the
Pirates probably would have went ahead and boarded
 
My son is in the Med right now with his Guided missle frigate. They have been doing a bunch of exercises with a NATO task force. Quite a few different nations ships involved, including the French.

I suspect they are going pirate hunting when they finish the training exercise.

The U.S. Navy is gearing up for pirate duty with a newly designed vessel, the U.S.S. Independence LCS-2. I'm told they plan to purchase 55 of them.

Photos at the link below. I think I read that it is set up for 60 knots of speed.

Come pirates those Navy men get a little restless without some action once in a while.

Personally I think there should be more oil slicks on the water and less questions asked.

In my opinion we should be using the "walk softly and carry a big stick" aproach to foreign policy and terrorists. But we have to USE the big stick when necessary, as in pirates.
