Putting a starter/genrator on a 10 hp engine. Need a wiring diagram useing a voltage regulator in the system, plan on useing a push botton starter switch. will a starter selnoid be needed in the system also? Will a switch be needed in the system to prevent the battery form being discharged when engine is not running? this engine was not built for a starter setup.

Here's an adequate diagram, previously posted by el toro, over on the garden tractors forum.

Since your engine has mag ignition, IGNORE the part of the circuit showing the 12 Volt coil and associated power wiring.

NEVER feed battery voltage to the ignition system of a mag-equipped engine!.
