tisco engine kit

Has anyone ever had a problem with a Tisco engine kit? My problem is, put liners in with correct pistons(and clearance) and pistons are seizing. They are scoring on the edge of the skirts. If you run the engine at 1800rpm it"s fine as soon as you come up to full rpm it locks up. Any answers would be greatful.

Were the oil rings 2 rails and an expander? Are you sure the ends of the expander are butted together and are not overlapping? You will probably need to remove one piston to see what's going on along with the liner and have the bore measured. Take a good look at oil rings if they
were 2 rails and the expander. Pull the piston
with the scoring. Hal
PS: Which engine is this?

I learned the hard way years ago that each ring needs to be put in the hole its going to be working in and the end clearance/ring gap check before the rings are put on the piston to be installed in any kit.
Its all in the details. A lot of the details are only learned the hard way even when they have been spelled out before hand.

tuff break but the only way to get the answer to your question is to take it apart and start over checking all of the clearances on each part no mater how small.

yes we had this problem a couple of years ago, they supply cheap imports with their eok kits, the cam grind of the piston is so far out of wack it is not funny. went rounds with their tech dept. they got an education afterwards. they "said problem is corrected", but obviously it isn't. you can get them to replace them with sealed power sleeve sets instead. that is the way we order all of our kits now. did you buy direct from tisco or from a tisco dealer?

Yes, rods are turned correctly(second thing I thought of). As for the rings, all had good clearance. I'm going with first reply to my question, I personally think the piston's are the problem.
