My '52 BF had a bad U-Joint in the torque tube and it finally broke yesterday while I was moving it out of the way for my dad to roll out his old Triamph car out the garage to start working on it.
I need a new U-Joint for my BF and I was wondering if I could use a regular U-Joint or if I had to get one thats specially made for that job?
Thanks in advance,
Alex

Its one of the model types for the minneapolis moline tractors that came out of the old B.F. Avery factory after moline bought them out in 1950. Its the same as the B.F. Avery model A but has moline paint(prairie gold 2) instead of Avery Red.

Had to replace a clutch bearing on my dad's BF and found a loose U joint while in there. Seems his were some sort of odball size. Dont think they even had roller bearings in them. Ended up getting something close from TSC and reworking the cross for the joint on the lathe.

If it broke the yoke as well you might be able to replace the whole deal if you can find yokes with the right splines. Good Luck.

It is a Avery designed tractot BUT IT IS NOT from the Avery A but the larger Avery R and as the Moline line already had a Model R in it they had to chainge the designation so they went with BF from the B F Avery name. The tractor the size of the Avery A (That was also the Wards Twin Row and the Coop B1 after starting out as the Cletrac) was droped when Moline took over. They only kept the largest that was the R and the smallest that was the V but as Moline did not have a model V they were able to keep that tractor at the same designation. Moline took the BF and made a modified version that was a 1 row offset tractor and gave it the BG for vegetable tractor.
