O/T Ford CVT transmission

Anyone have experience with the CVT trans that Ford put in the 2005-2007 Freestyles? I am inheiriting a 2007 model and know nothing about these models. Google shows some have had BADDDD issues with them and others have had good luck. I hate limited production runs and would hate to have to shell out 5K for a new trans at 60K miles. The special trans fluid for this beast is $18 a quart. Ouch.

My mom has a 500 with the CVT. There was one recall on it that the dealership took about 2 hours to fix. Other than that, it's been wonderful.
Before doing any towing, check to see what the rating is, or better yet, avoid towing with it.
I also think there is aftermarket oil for the tranny by now.
Good luck.

Wife has a '06 Freestyle front wheel drive with 77,000 miles. We bought it used and have had no issues with it. Love it on the interstate, no violent downshifts, smooooth. Would buy another definatley. hwy mileage 25 mpg, city 22 mpg, not too bad for a 3900 lb car.

cvt trannys should be cool as they can keep you at or near max torque and give you best mpg...
