ok getting down the home stretch on this allis b....got the new muffler. how does this go together???? on the exhaust manifold, there us a little "bump" inside that the muffler slides into, but there is a large metal bracket and clamp that i assume goes around the base of the muffler.....but what does it bolt to??? is the bump on the exhaust manifold a bolt that is broken off??? tractor was in pieces when the customer brought it to me. heres a pic.

Bracket is made to be used with this style manifold. This is a replacement so the bottom hole is not drilled and tapped so you can use the muffler without the bracket. The bump inside the manifold should be the head of the bolt that originaly held the muffler. My guess is that if you grind lightly on the outside at that location you will find the hole where it comes through and is broke off. If you get it out you can replace it with a carriage bolt and the sholder will fit in the slot to keep it from turning when you tighten it.

aha!!!! so thats it!!! the bolt must have been broken long ago, now looking at it i see what you mean as to how it goes together. thanks for the help!!! glenn

Glennster----see the Allis section on 12-09-09. I have suggested a way to hold the muffler and to keep the water out of the manifold.
