TRACTORS WE'VE (YOU'VE) HAD

Thought it'd be interesting to see what tractors people here have had over the years. My experience goes back to 1948. Special memories of some or all would add to the interest.

Our (really my dad's, except for last one) tractors were:

F-20 Farmall on rubber--(mighty slow "road gear")
WC Allis Chalmers with hand brakes
Massy Harris 81--(a cutey)
Oliver 70--(the least "lugging ability of all")
Co-op E-3--(Low gear in low range was really slow. My dad took 2nd place in the light weight tractor pulling contest at the Indiana State Fair with this one. His first new tractor.
Case DC-3--(Had two of these, one with hand clutch. Very good tractors. Didn't mind the hand clutch at all.
John Deere 4020 gas--What a wonderful tractor this was. My dad bought it new in 1967. Believe he paid 7500 with 5 bottom semi-mounted plow. To me, this tractor is the Classic of all Classic tractors although the Farmall M and John Deere D are right up there with it.
Deutz 13006-- My dad bought 2 of these when new. Believe he had good luck with them.
John Deere 5020--This one's mine. Bought it cheap but later found out why. Familiar? Love the sound of that big diesel engine and those huge "standard" fenders. Have 30.5x32's on it.

Although not a farm tractor, we had a big International TD-24 Dozer back in the 70s'. Many big trees in fence rows came down with this one. Lots of fun but some hard work building-up sprockets and installing new track rails.

Minneapolis Moline: R industrial with Lull loader

Well, that's what I can remember off the top of my head, but I'll bet I missed some along the way.

I have bought and sold since high school as well. Have taken a picture of every one. I seldom open the album as every time I do 4 hours gets lost on a trip down memory lane. I was at 387 a couple years back when I counted.

192? 10-20, 46 b farmall, 50 c farmall demonstrator, 49 m , Dads 65 Ford 6000 Commander, ford 8000, 78 white 2-85 fwa, 450 farmall, co-op e-4, co-op e-3 ford 971 w/ 1 arm loader, and a fordson

When I was a kid we had a 35 JD A, 51 JD A, 1960 JD 630, 48 SC Case, and I still have them all. Then came a '51 88 oliver, a '78 1086, a '54 JD R, '46 Farmall B, and a '38 F20. Everything still runs and works except the F20, and it will run too someday if I 'getaroundtoit'. The tractors on this place have had to earn their keep.

Only two tractors have ever left the farm, a 1070 Case that I bought new and turned out to be a lemon and a JD B that dad thought used too much fuel for the horsepower. (debatable). Jim

sure cant remeber all them, well over 250 tractors I have had, the one I should of kept was a really rough UDLX MM, oh well,

Grew up with a: Ford 8n, John Deere A, John deere MT, John deere B(no starter, had to open the petcocks and spin the flywheel), Farmall M.

Had a Ford 9N and Ford 601 then went red and row crop.

Currently have a: running 52 Farmall H,53 Farmall stage 1 Super H that is 99% into a true ground up restoration, Should have it started this week, 54 Farmall stage 2 Super H not running (next to be restored). I finally got to a position in life where I could buy a brand new tractor so in 2006 I bought a 5103 John Deere with loader. I thought I was buying American. I was under the impression that only the compact tractors where imported. It took me about 4 months later, after a thorough cleaning, to find the made in India tag. I'm still disapointed with myself for not doing my home work. Although it's been a great tractor.

Fordson, 2 1020 IH, Rumely Du All with removeable front axel cultivators to go on back with castor wheel on back, F20 Farmall, UC Allis row crop W 40 IH, F 14 IH, WD9 IH, 77 Oliver, 880 Oliver, 730D John Deere, 3 Wallis, H Farmall, 4630 JD, 1155 MF.
