Lost a tire chain...buried a tire chain

Anyone else had a tire chain come off a tractor tire? I was clearing snow from my MX track and didn't realize one of the chains came off. I was using an angle blade on the back, so of course the chain is buried in the windrow. I'm taking the skid steer out tomorrow to see if I can find the chain. It's not really lost, I just can't see it. Still a pain though. I have a snowman race in Feb. for studded tires on bikes and need to clear most of the snow off. I also have to clear the parking lot. It's a pretty big job so I want to clear it off now, so it's easier to keep cleared if it snows more. If I can't find the chain, I'll have to wait till the snow melts. Dave
 
I thought about a metal detector. I'm going to try back drag the windrow and see if I can find it or just drive on the windrow. If not, I'll see if I can rent a metal detector. I'm hoping it won't be hard to find since it is a big junk of chain. Dave
 
I lost one once the first year I put them on. I didn't have it tight enough. Luckily the day it fell off was toward spring and I was hauling manure instead of plowing snow. Good luck finding it. Maybe you could set your blade 3 or 4 inches off the ground and replow that windrow and see if you see it.

Chunk. It's a US made chain. If it was made in China, it might be junk. I guess I wasn't looking at what I typed close enough. Dave
 
Comeon' now. Get the snowblower out. Guarnteed you'll find the fricken chain in about 10 seconds.
Won't have a snowblower... but you'll have the chain!

Maybe I should rent a blower? LoL It would save a lot of time looking for sure. I could take it back and say a bearing went out and it exploded. Dave
 
Lucky you. When the chain came off mine it wrapped around the axle housing and on the tire.With enough pressure and pinch to rupture the inner tube.
 
Do you have a large magnet? We bought a big one from Tractor Supply and I've used to to find stuff that disappeared in the grass. Don't know if it would work in deep snow.
 
Don't worry about it. The guy on the television just sayed that Obahma is gonna bring Chainge for everybody. He will bring a chain fo' you too.I am sho of it.
