Whats with these guys who place a add in photo section are classifieds and don't put a price on it?Are they ashamed of how much they are asking?Do you guys look at them are pass them up?My experience is if you have to call they want double.I usually don't call any more.

They're all practicing to be used car dealers...

They're wanting you to tell them what you'll give and they are hoping you are completely uninformed. Well, I guess some people are.

If they want me to take time out of my day to call them, I pass. My time is more valuable looking at someones items that interest me and are priced for my interest. Sorry to say, I'm not calling someone to waste their time and mine.

Newspaper ads, yard sales, etc...no price listed means I keep moving. I also don't haggle. If a price is listed high with the intention of "coming to an agreement", again I keep moving.

I agree with those below. If someone really is serious about selling they need to set an asking price. I usually put my asking price and then O.B.O. for "or best offer".to show I am willing to haggle. I am willing and expect to bargain. That is part of the fun of selling.
What I do not expect to have to do is set the asking price for someone.
What is worse yet is when I do call on something and the have no starting point and I low ball them , they get mad and will not even deal!!
Some peoples Kids!!!

Recall my Father going to purchase something or other and seller said "what price do you think it is worth"
the answer was "I can't be both buyer and seller".
Seems good to me.

I called on a tractor part last week that was in the photo adds and the guy wouldn't give me a price. He Said "you know what you can afford to spend" when asked the price.I made him an offer and was told to go somewhere else.

Go look at Fastline or Tractor House there Full of No prices with there Photo Adds ! Those Guys are Just Fouls =NO PRICE ,NO LOOK,NO BUY & OF CORSE NO SALE !!!!!!!!AND ALL THIS FOR A HIGH PRICED FULL,HALF PAGE ADD??????????

In my book its very bad. If i was the advertizing book/ad i would refuse them with out a legitimate price!! Also to get them to the table i learned long ago. 1. Offer them $1 and say now what the H%%L do you want for it!!! If that doesnt work move on real fast.

long time ago I quit any adv. with no price If I recall correctly Old Abs News refused to put ads in mag with no price

OR...in Omaha Craigslist, someone wants a wall framed and drywalled. NO information, but states they will pay $500.00 to have it done. Amazing how much work people think can get done in 20 hours! Greg

Way I look at it folks around here post adds in the paper all the time for stuff with out a price. Seems like I keep 2000 roll over minutes on my phone all the time and no matter how many times I call just to ask the price of something I don't want I can't use them all up. They waste my time by reading an add with out a price I try to catch them at the dinner table to waste thier time.

If you have a unique item with great demand (UDLX, for example) that is going to be "scary pricey", I can see listing with no price, as there will still be callers on it. But for run of the mill stuff, I think they miss a lot of buyers if no price listed (they'll miss me, for instance). I'm a bargain hunter, and if they list no price, I assume its outrageous, and won't magically become a bargain just because I call.

Another pet peeve- they say "if interested, call XXX" or "Serious inquiries only". Sooooo... they think I'm going to call for the fun of it, if I'm not really interested?

I have seen all kinda things.

I usually don't call, but when I do many seem to get upset when you do call and ask how much they want for it ? Well if you don't want bothered then put the price in there !

And on putting OBO I once called a guy who had OBO his price seemed like a good deal so I told him I'd be there after work. I was to be the first caller and had the first appointment or so he told me ? I showed up with enough cash and the trailer when I said I would. Checked the tractor out and said I'd take it,told him I'd go get the money out of the truck for him. Then he hit me with the OBO by his definition. He want best offer over what he was asking ! I tried to get him to nail down a price to buy it right now and he wouldn't give me one ! I played his game a little calling him the next day and makeing offers higher then he would call back with a higher offer form someone else. I played his game a few times then I let him and the other guy have it ! I told him I just helped him get alot more money out of this from the other guy and that if he wanted to run an auction that he should of been up front about it from the get go !
