What's your favorite kind of fish? If I'm frying fish my favorite would be walleye. If I'm doing them on cedar planks on the grill my favorite would probably be salmon. So many different kinds of fish to try and so little time. I think Lent is my favorite time of the year. Got any favorite recipes you would like to share?

If you're not fond of strong fish flavor, try tilapia. White fish, mild flavor, usually pretty cheap. Use some garlic salt, maybe thyme and or tarragon, we always marinate for a half hour or so in margarita mix (without the tequila). Very tasty. Most comes from China, but then, what doesn't?

Walleye can be prepared with this simple recipe..

Pat dry fillets and dip in whole egg wash, roll in fine Ritz cracker crumbs until well coated

Pan fry in butter till lightly brown, sprinkle with just a touch of garlic salt. Turn and fry for just a minute or two more, then place on paper towel. Dust with black pepper.

Best served 2 pieces to a plate with fried potatoes and onion, asparagus, and a cold Leinie's.

Fish or sea food??? Now if you say sea food then Lobster and or crab but I now live in the mid west so can't get much of it here that is really good that is. Now when I lived on the east coast that was different and I ate lots of crab and lobster back then. And even some flounder at times

Had Maui Maui (spelling?) from my wife's uncle he had caught near Texas/Mexico. We breaded and fried it that was the best fish I ever had. I usually don't eat much fish unless it is lent, but that I would eat anyday.

layer of potatoes (sliced, little round red ones)

Fried, corn meal breaded, whole catfish, about 10-12" long, hush-puppies, cole slaw, probly a
cold beer. Reminds me, I need to get over to Brahmans in Okeechobee.

Smoked Alaska "fighting Salmon"...

I always told my BIL"s "If ya touch my smoked salmon, we"re fighting. LOL LOL

I'm mighty partial to walleye, in fact its really the only freshwater fish I care for. Now saltwater fish, Im all about that. Especially whitefish and cod.

Perch but caught through the ice only. Water is cleaner and the filets are firmer and whiter than summer caught fish. Other than that just Haddock and cod.

Usually just open a can of sardines or a jar of pickled herring.
If I"m paying $8 a pound for something to eat it better be a T bone or rib eye.

Walleye. Straight out of the lake, filleted and into the frying pan.
Anybody ever tried drying, egging the fillets, rolling in instant mashed potato flakes then frying?
Wild salmon either oven baked halves or as steaks are wonderful too.

Let's see, these aren't all fish but...

Pickled herring, dried anchovies, calamari, salmon, oysters on the half shell, just about any fish over a campfire, and even tuna salad. I'm sure I left a few out.

I've tried a few different seafood dishes in authentic oriental restaurants that were superb, but I don't know the name for them.

PS- Also scallops.

I had an old friend he liked carp. He said how to fix it. Take it and wrap it up in cow manure and bake for 2 hours. when done throw the carp away. I like pollock fish. is less then $2.00 a pound here in So. Dak.
