ford 4000 points

My ford 4000 gas will not start, started fine the other day. I want to reset the points-what is the proper opening measurement for the points-I assume it is done on the flat side of the cam.

the rubbing block on the point set has to be on top of one of the 4 lobes...my '62 2000 uses .020 gap...i assume the 4000 is the same since theyre basically same motor.

Not the flat, the lobe, or curved side, long as you have a point gap of a matchbook cover, give or take 1 rch, should be good enough. Pry open the points, and see if they are pitted and dirty. Crank over the tractor, with the cap and dust cover off. Good points give a crisp blue spark, bad ones give off a splattery yellow, weak spark.
