Do any of you know what a EMG test is?? I have to have one done on March 19th and have no clue as to what it is but I do know what it will be looking for sort of LOL
Thanks

EMG = Electromyography

They're gonna stick some little needles with test leads into you to monitor electrical activity in your nerves/muscles.

POSSIBLY they'll shoot some volts in there to see how your muscles react.

I watched my late Dad have that done some years ago.

They had him laying on his back, squealing like a little girl and wiggling his legs from the shocks.

Pretty CRAZY to watch!

Have FUN!

EMG = electromyogram, it's a test that is used to determin the electoractivity of your muscles, when your muscles are active they produce an electrical current.

Of course you can do your own research on the net,and get much more detailed data, and intel

cording to my MAYO book EMG stands for Electromyography. It is a test that measures electric currents in your muscles.
I have had the test at least three times, really nothing to it. The Doc sticks a needle in the muscle he wants to test and reads on a print out the amount of current that goes thru the muscle. Lots of luck and don't be concerned about the test before it is done.

Ya this is because my right shoulder is doing some funny things like going numb, hurting, lost of strength, and tingling from the should to the tips of my fingers which believe me all of that is not fun. Gave me a laicane shot in that shoulder on Feb 19th to see if doing so helped the pain and it did nothing for it sure wish they would figure it out this is getting sort of old

I had something that sounds quite similar to yours. Locally they figured out it was a nerve thing, but sent me to Rochester Mayo Clinic for the final decision. Mine also affected my breathing-but only when lying down! It was diagnosed as Parsonage Turner Syndrome. Google it to see if it fits your situation. On mine, the pain quit at EXACTLY 3 weeks, but the weekness/breathing issues took about 3 years to notice any improvement. Greg

I have had 2 of them in the Mayo clinic. They test for how much electricty the muscles produce. They had my legs full of needles some of them 2 to 3 inches long hooked up to a machine. Sometimes they hit a button to see how high my legs would jump. If nothing happened they would crank up the juice & hit it again. Doc asked how much I had been drinking. I told him I have a beer or 2 now & then. After checking my arms he said my legs are worse than a cronic alcoholic but my arms are normal. So I said it doesn't seem to be from the drinking & he agreed.

That is something I can not do and they will not take me. I have had back surgery and I have yet to find one in my area that will do any thing after you have had that done. Plus with not having one of the disks in my back to do so would be to risk being paralyzed for the rest of my life
